Birth Doula across London

I believe in being fully present at each birth and helping to create a calm, safe and supportive space for you and, if you have one, for your partner. I work intuitively and mindfully, responding to what is needed in the moment. Sometimes that means hands-on support, and sometimes simply being quietly present.

NHS maternity system

From booking appointments and midwife-led care to birth centres, labour wards, induction pathways and consultant referrals, the NHS has its own way of working. I can help you understand what each part means, what may happen next and where you may have choices, so you feel better prepared.

Birth preparation

Birth preparation is much more than making a birth plan. We can explore what labour may feel like, different ways of coping with pain, breathing and relaxation, movement and positioning, birth biomechanics, and what induction, epidural or caesarean birth may involve. The aim is to help you feel prepared for different possibilities.

Doula's role when Labour Begins

My support starts before labour, so by the time your birth begins we will already know each other, have talked through your preferences and discussed how you would like to be supported.

When labour starts, we stay in touch and I join you when we both feel the time is right. This is often at your home, so I can support you there first and, when needed, we can travel to the hospital together.

Whether you choose a home birth, an epidural, other pain relief or need a caesarean, I continue to support you throughout. I can help you understand the options being discussed, prepare questions and communicate your wishes clearly with the maternity team, while supporting you in making the decisions that feel right for you.

Water Birth Preparation

Doula support at Birth

During labour, I stay by your side and adapt my support to what feels helpful to you. This may include massage, breathing guidance, movement and positioning, relaxation techniques, reassurance and helping you think through your options when decisions arise.

After your baby is born, I usually stay for around two hours so those first moments can feel as supported as possible. I can encourage skin-to-skin contact, help with the first feed, and give you space to settle into those precious first hours together.

Postnatal Doula Support

I will also see you again postnatally, giving you space to talk through your birth, ask questions and receive practical support as you recover and find your feet with your new baby. If you feel you would benefit from further postnatal support, additional visits can also be arranged separately according to your needs.

The Partner and the Doula

A doula is not there to replace your partner. My role is to support you both and help you feel that you are working together as a team. I can reassure your partner, suggest ways they can support you, and share the physical and emotional support throughout labour. Often, simply having another experienced person in the room can make your partner feel more relaxed and confident.

Doula for a Solo mum

If you are going through pregnancy and birth as a solo mum, I want you to know that you do not have to do it all alone. I can be the familiar person by your side throughout labour, offering reassurance, practical support and a calm presence, while helping you feel confident in your choices and cared for throughout the experience.
